It's been a while since I have posted, but I have been following along with everyone. Today I was lucky enough to take my first deer since 2006. It's been an eventful Vermont Bow season, jumping many deer walking in and out before and after hunts. This morning that wasn't the case, I had 2 doe and a fawn walk by me around 745 but stayed out of range. This was right after a few turkeys walked by me. About an hour later I was putting on an additional layer when two doe walking at a good pace were coming right towards me. As the first one was getting close I hastily grabbed my bow and by the time I was ready she had walked by. As the second doe got to about ten yards I drew and followed her as she walked, as she walked at about 18 yards I was about to let down when she offered me a shot. On the move I managed to put the arrow behind the shoulder. Once she had ran off, I called my father who was further down the ridge, which started the longest 30 minutes of my life. Once he had made it up to me we began to track it. The cutthroat did its job leaving an awesome blood trail and a short 100 yard tracking job. All and all I couldn't be more pleased with the day!
