I live in the Kiln which is the bottom of the map in Hancock county. I really want to make that one I've read a lot about it.

You can always get Brett Favre to give you some instinctive lessons. Lol. Jk of course. Your close to a lot of pigs down that way. Now if we can just get the law to change so we can hunt them.

BOHO I've live here all my life and never laid eyes on the man ha. But speaking of hogs you are right they are everywhere. I actually killed one about 50 pounds with my 22 rifle when squirrel season opened. Shot 2 more but needed a bigger gun or better shooter. As soon as I get a chance I plan to do some stalking with my recurve.

BOHO

Man yea. Tons of fun there. I'm lucky that our lease doesn't have hogs, yet. When we do tho I'm gonna be on em like white on rice. Whats your set up ?

Right now I'm shooting a 47# black widow PSAII with some 400 spine Eastons and 160 grain Zwickey Eskimos.
Everyone says my arrows should be stiff bit they bareshaft perfect and shoot straight. I'm pretty new to it but after a few
Months of practicing religiously I feel confident to 20 yards.
As far as hunting I have a few small blocks of woods around home to hunt but I also have a camp in north ms. I just had a baby Monday so my time on the woods will be limited.
I am looking forward to a season of nothing but traditional hunting. I have not touched my compound since last December and the last shot was to kill a big doe.

Chris,

You've done really well in your first season back in trad!

I went this afternoon and moved a lock on to a hot feed tree  and felt like it may be chance to see some deer.

But I made too much noisy in getting the stand down from one location and moving and setting up in the new tree, probably spooked everything.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

Sounds like an awesome set up to me man. Congrats on the new baby !!  Hope your able to whack another one soon.

What kind of oak did you find dropping  South?  Our water oaks didn't make this year  and it's a little early for our whites to start. We may have some southern reds dropping now. Will get to go scout next weekend. Can't wait to get my new little river in the woods to do some scouting and stumping.

Tom,

Our White Oaks are dropping now and with the squirrels moving among them giving the acorns an assist it sounded like a slow drizzly rain.

I thought for sure those deer wouldn't be able to resist the dinner bell, but too much activity by me messed it up.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

BOHO

That's too bad but I bet you'll get one next time. You need to break that toelke in right !!  I'm gonna go this coming Saturday and see what's been going on down at the camp. Just talked to the pres and he found a 3 ft + scrape about 40 yards from my camera. Hope I got a pic of him !!

I hung a loc on Sunday evening by my parents house. I have killed numerous deer there over the years but the past few have been really bad. Land being cleared and people moving in have ruined some nice hunting. But I hung the stand in hopes of getting in the woods more this year, but there are still a few deer around. My dad had a big doe in his yard Saturday. I hope to get a shot at one there for old times sake.

Swinestalker

This latest  cool snap has me thinking of cold mornings with mist rising from the swamp. I'm beginning to get that old and familiar longing to slip around in the woods and shoot un suspecting woodland creatures with sharp sticks.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

Thanks guys! I know the guys that saw it on the bull know the story but I'm super proud of him.  I pulled a Swinestalker and killed him out of a natural ground blind on public ground   :D
