:readit:

It's that time of year it's the Official 2017-2018 Mississippi hunting season photo and story page.

Food plots are planted, stands are set and the guys up North have begun their season (September 30th opener).

Us Southern Boys and Gals get started on the 14th, so post up your stories and photo   :clapper:

I killed a doe opening afternoon, but of course I don't know how to post pics...don't have very good ones anyway. Used my Black Onyx ILF with 51# wood/glass limbs, and a Simmons Treeshark.

Good job jkm! I've shot a raccoon and let a few little bucks walk but nothing else.

Kyle, we'll expect a story with each pic. Doe or not a trad kill deserves attention to detail! Congrats

Lol, not a lot to tell really. I hunted a little acorn flat between two bedding areas that morning, expecting to catch a few filtering through. But I got shut out.

I didn't really have a better option for the northerly wind that evening (early season I had been scouting spots expecting a southerly wind) so I decided to go back, not expecting much.

About 6:30 I saw the deer pop over a ridge, and she came right to me, beginning to browse for acorns about 30 yards out, and staying in close for the next several minutes, though I could never get a shot...either out of my range (20 and umber for me) or at a bad angle.

Finally she walked under my tree, so I shifted my feet hoping to find a shot as she angled away. She got broadside at about ten yards, but as I came to full draw she took a couple steps, quartering away, so  adjusted and let the goldtip and Simmons head fly, the arrow entering around the last rib and lodging in the off shoulder.

She made a mad dash for about 50 yards and crashed.

Got my first 3 hunts in this week without seeing a deer. My little white oak stand isn't dropping acorns yet and my morning ground sit on Saturday produced barely a songbird.

I did have a beautiful evening last night despite the sauna-like humidity but the only sign of deer was the one blowing at me from upwind due to a traitorously sinking thermal.

All that aside, it's pure bliss to be in the deer woods again. Sure looking forward to some cooler weather though...

This tropical humidity is awful. I probably won't hunt again until it cools down, just scout some instead.

Nate hopefully put some food on the ground. I'll be within 15 yards of two mature Swamp chestnut oaks that are loaded. No skeeters Saturday when I went in to hang my stand. I typically carry my stand in when I hunt but had an irresistible urge to get in the woods.   :jumper:

Possum, ahem...Scout hope your reconnaissance missions pay off this time unlike the ones you did when we had "Hope".

Me too jk. I went opening morning to hunt but nothing to hunt. Scouted and didn't find much. Haven't been back. Will go back when the hi is in the 70's

I got out the evening of the opener and sat in a bottom with a few white oaks, don't think they were dropping yeti. All I saw was a coon. Congrats on the kill Kyle!
