Got everything lined out for my girlfriend to hunt for the first time this fall. She's going to be using a longbow that is 35 pounds at her 25 inch draw. We decided to limit her shots to 15 yards or less she'll be using zwickey eskilite two blades on oak shafts, total arrow weight 468 on average. With a healthy amount of luck hopefully I'll be posting some pictures of her with a whitetail come October.
Hunting is the fun part, once you kill something the work begins

Good luck to you both-should be exciting.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

That's awesome! It's a great day when you can get the person you love to spend time with to be willing to join you in your interest. My wife HATES bugs and after 25 years there is no changing that. Enjoy your days afield with her. Best of luck.

Awesome, best of luck and enjoy.  Just make sure it is fun and enjoyable, then the hook be set.

It's a whole new world.  Having my wife along hunting is the last thing I'd enjoy.

I'll be taking my granddaughter out deer hunting this year for her first time. Bought her a Samick Sage at 40#.

Good luck fellow mountaineer!

Best of luck to you both.  Make sure to check in about her objectives for the day to see if they're the same as yours.  If her objective is to primarily spend some quality time with you and secondarily to hunt, then make sure it's relaxed & you spend most of the time hanging out, talking, etc.  Be ready to see deer walk away or not even show themselves.  The hunt is becomes nothing more than the excuse to be together.

But if she's bent on getting a deer or at least giving it a solid hunt and, secondarily, do it with you, then you can get more serious about the day.

If your objectives aren't the same as hers, you're itchin' for trouble.  So make sure to check in with her.

Make sure she has warm clothes .. creatures with estrogen seem to be cold blooded by nature....
My previous gf's tend to have gotten way colder sooner than I did ... and they were wearing my warm jackets.

If the biting critters are bad make sure she has bug spray too

Good luck hope you make a hunter out of her!

"I love you Daddy".......My son Cade while stump shooting  3/19/06

Don't forget to throw in some stumping arrows.  Lots of times beginners have more fun shooting at this or that or even a squirrel or a rabbit.  the objective of killing a deer has to be put into perspective.  Personally, I have more fun taking a few stump shots than I do hunting.  The embarrassing part, I sometimes shoot deer when I am primarily stump shooting more than deer hunting.  That can be a little tough to take for someone else that is following your orders on how to kill a deer.
