I'm going to hunt hogs with Irv in Florida this coming January. I know a lot of guys here have hunted with him before and was wondering if you have any suggestions on hotels to look at or stay away from? Not sure if I can really believe all the reviews you see on the websites. Have talked to Irv some about it but he doesn't stay in them so figured maybe the guys who do could give some good info. Thanks

I tent camped in the same campground that Irv is in - think hot and muggy, but they did have nice showers and running water bathrooms.

As far as motels, I really can't help much in that specific area.  I do stay in motels occasionally when I travel and find that the cheap ones are adequate.  Though they may be worn and shoddy, they are usually clean.  Motel 6 has been upgrading throughout the country and the prices reflect it but still cheaper than their neighbors.

Make sure you take a bowfishing rig with you - and a fillet knife.  The Tilapia are good sport and great eating.

Yep, he's already informed me to bring a bowfishing rig! Been a long time since I've done any bowfishing so will be a lot of fun

You'll love your time down there. I have to look into my records and then I'll pm you info. On where I stayed. It was cheap, clean and adequate. My wife and I stayed there a week.

I have hunted with Irv twice. In 2016 we stayed at the Rodeway Inn, it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it.  There is a Holiday Inn close by and I would chose that one.  This past year I stayed with my daughter up in Palm Bay and commuted back and forth.

I've stayed in a couple hotels down there when hunting with Jim and Irv.  The Rodeway is a dump. My suggestion is to go to Airbnb and get a house or condo for your stay.  There are some nice listings at good prices and if you're bringing anyone else it's way better than a hotel.  You can cook, do laundry and you have a freezer if you kill anything. And you don't have to yell at the drunks talking loud outside our door at 3 am.

I stay in Airbnb places across the country and it's the way to go.

I was wondering about condos myself but have no idea where or what to look at. Much appreciated!

There's Airbnb, Homeaway and few others that will list homes, apartments, condos and rooms for daily rent for folks.  Craiglist is worth looking at too.  Found a nice trailer home in Montana last year on Craigslist.  The homes I've stayed at listed on Airbnb are WAY cleaner than hotels too. Just google vacation homes for rent and you'll start the search.
