RC = "shoot a few and see what you like."  The first time I met Robert, he was working his way through a crowd of trad shooters at the Paradise Club, shooting every bow that he could.  He shot my bow better than I do.  That boy loves to shoot, as many hogs have painfully learned!

Buy a Rivers Edge recurve and longbow w/ your 9 bills. Performance and craftsmanship is as good if not better than some of the more well known bows.

I'll go with the first few guys that mentioned the Rose Oak bows. They are a really sweet shooting bow and faster than most of the other bows mentioned if you go with the Wildcat t/d. It is the fastest and smoothest bow I've shot. The best part is that you could get the bow in a month or two and with all the options (wavy veneers, pierce points, any wood combo you want). No need to spend $900 for one of the all actionwood, noisy, spider bows. Mike

Decide what exactly you want for qualities in your bow. Figure out was is the most important thing to you and the next and so on. There are very few bad bows anymore and most of the decision truly comes down to how any particular bow fits you and your style. I've held big $$$ bows that the grip just completely turned me off to and cheap ones with great grips. There is no wrong answer to this question, so do some research, shoot some bows and figure out your priorities. have fun with every bit of the shopping.

When this question comes up, and it always comes up...I always recommend you try to find a local bowyer to work with.  As some have mentioned, the differences between bows aren't that great, and working with a local guy, you can get the grip the exact way you want it.

I currently have 14 trad bows, 13 of which are custom, and I have two more ordered.

I bought a Rose Oak bow because Brandon is local and I saw that he does things (cosmetically) that I had never seen before, like the wave design in the limbs and the crazy wave in the riser.

I wanted a "show off" bow I could take to 3D shoots.

After I got it home and shot it a few times, I realized the bow shot so well I needed one for hunting, and the one he made was too purdy (and shiny) to hunt with.  So I have ordered another.  BTW, the workmanship is of a truely anal artist that took his time and got every aspect PERFECT.

The Rose Oak bows shoot well for me because they are cut past center and thus are EXTREMELY tolerant of arrow spine.  They are smooth drawing, quiet and very fast as well.

Anyway, there are GREAT bowyers all over the country and if you can find one near you, you will support your local economy and have access to him for a custom grip for YOUR hand.

If you don't have one near you, I can whole heartedly recomend Rose Oak Bows.

I agree with the advice of shooting a few before you buy. I would definitely look at Habu, Hoyt Gamemaster, Marriah Thermal, and River's Edge. If you're looking at black widow,I would strongly suggest shooting the Habu as well. I found the Habu feels, shoots, and performs better than the widow, although both are excellent choices.

Them Rose Oak bows is just too purty...wonder if he can make me one and make it look mean...black dymond wood, black glass, some phenolic barbed wire accents...leave some tool marks on it...couple unsanded patches...lol...

Now that you are armed with all of these wonderful suggestions and KNOW EXACTLY WHICH BOW YOU WANT you can order it and go crazy waiting for it to show up.

Thanks guys. I`m thinking on a Widow but then theres them Bracks and Robertson has some sweet recurves and them Rose Oak bows are shore purty and...AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH.

RC, if ya cannot wait a Robertson stock bow is the way to go. Those Rose Oak are pretty but pretty does not make a great bow. I really would like to try one to give advice on one. I have owned Robertsons and I am sorry I still don't and if ya want a Widow, the only one to buy is the TF, it outperforms there other bows as far a shootability. Shawn
