Will spar urethane finish ever truly dry and harden when sprayed over cocobolo?
Thanks, Bret

MAC

Not that I have seen, have to clean the poly off and give it a coat of lacquer to seal it.

CA glue does a good job also. There are some finishes out there that don't require a sealer(thunderbird and others). It will take FOREVER for spar to dry on cocobolo without sealing it first.  Don't ask me how I know;)

thanks guys, I suspected as much.  Bummer.  Oh well, guess I will get to sanding.  I guess it doesn't matter how old the cocobolo is does it? The piece I used was cut into a 2" x 2" x 24" blank and had been cut for some time.  Don't guess it would possibly get less oily would it?

:(

Steel wool is good for the removal, don't ask how I know either!LOL

I had one it didn't dry completely after six months,I sealed it with super glue then I was able to put a finish on it.

The super glue worked well for me on some bacote I just finished.I also cleaned the surface with acetone by dabbing with a cloth instead of wiping.
