I'm on the list to recieve my new Wes Wallace Mentor on July 23 07.  I Have come down to 3 wood combos. Combo 1: all cocobolo riser with yew limbs. 2nd: Bacote riser w/ cocobolo stripe and bamboo core w/bacote vaneer limbs. 3rd: All Osage w/ bolivian rosewood stripe in riser and limb wedges/tips....  all 3 of these bows are listed on his site...Stunning.  I was just woundering what the Osage looks like after time.  both the riser, and the limbs under glass. I know that it darkens with time. I would enjoy seeing some Pictures of darkened Osage.  Any pros and cons also of the different woods.......

Good luck with the decision.

Just a little dark, there. It's a MA-VI 'Osage' it has darkened more now but don't have an updated picture.
I was just sharing this photo with someone and all I had to do was right click...timely.
Happy trails....   ('till we meet again, Dale Evans Rogers)

Mark here's coco and osage. A classic combo...

Osage will darken, and darken, and darken.  Direct relationship to the amount of exposure to the sun.  You also have to be careful with quivers, etc that might block the sunlight.  You will end up with the shadowed area being much lighter than the rest of the bow, but it will all even out in time.

It is a bit hard to believe just how much mine has darkened just in four years...

One other interesting note.  On the belly of the bow I have face grain osage which darkened with the rest.  On the back of the bow I have edge grain osage which has hardly darkened at all.  Cool contrast.

Incidently, Charlie is going to kill me for putting this online because of the flaw in the fiberglass.  I have always thought it added a bit of character to wonderful craftsmanship.

Just like fine wine.  It gets better with age.

Mark, it's a no-brain-er "cocobolo riser with yew limbs"

or Bacote riser w/ cocobolo stripe and bamboo core w/bacote vaneer limbs.

I also like  Osage w/ bolivian rosewood stripe in riser and limb wedges/tips....

Sorry I'm no help, you've seen my bow    :help:    , looks like I beet the dog with it.

If I had to pick it's #2 for me.

Mark,
2 cents.  Cocobolo with an Osage stripe.  Bamboo limbs.

That way when you get tired of that bow I can buy it.   :bigsmyl:
