Well just got in, course had to read Jasons (whitebuffalo) success thread first.

My morning wasn't that good. Heard gobblers on the roost. Hear first shotgun blast (close - up the valley) at 7:02. Heard a distant shot 20 mins later. At 7:55 heard a shot not too far down the valley. Heard some gobblin after that down the valley. Let out some seductive yelps with both my Quaker Boy box and later with my 4Nolz pot call but no birds were enticed to my hen and jake set up. At one point I saw something move in the brush turned out to be a doe eating leaves about 25 yards away.

Now less than a month ago all those gobblers in the pic above (and then some, there's no jakes in that pic) were in my yard at the same time. You'd have thought ONE of them would have stuck around ha ha

Gots to get on the road now.

Sounds like my kind of luck Ferret.

Opening morning here in WY about 2 weeks back I was in a draw with 5 toms gobbling away. Guess what I forgot my decoy. Tried but they would only come within 30-40 yards without some eye candy. I was begining to think that my bullsnake backing with those sharp eyed toms was not such a good idea. Go back the next day with decoy and call in two toms only to have a hen call them away from me (the little huzzie). Guess the real thing just sounds and looks better. Yesterday I was sitting the same draw and got a tom going. He circled above me on the ridge and went up the draw and held up. He would gobble but not come down to me. So I moved up towards him. I stopped after about 150 yards and called again and he responded. I decided to push a little closer and of course he then decided to come down to me. We ran into each other and he sprinted off putting away.

Love the floppy rest by the way it is now standard on all my new selfbows.
