Thinking of moving to Colorado Springs, going there to visit in a couple weeks. I will only have a couple of days to look around, so I am looking for suggestions on which areas to live in. We are looking to rent at first, then possibly buy in a year or so. Will be searching for job also (elecrical/construction related) and was wondering much residential and commercial construction was going on in the area. Anyone from the area??  Thanks, David

I have relatives there and last year when I was there for elk season the building was out of control.  The city seems to have doubled in size since I started going there 10 yrs. ago.  Don't know if the construction/building has slowed down like in other parts this past year though.

Housing on the south side of C. Springs in the Security/Widefield/Fountaing areas will be cheaper. Many of the folks in those communities are Military  families working on Fort Carson. As you move to the north,  houses get more costly. Part of it is a difference in home size and part is  the appeal of shortening the commute to Denver. You may find all of the home pricing shocking-Houses are expensive in Co compared to much of Texas. Denver is horrid, Springs is  shocking and Pueblo and CanonCity are merely disturbing. Lots of building has taken place in C Springs.

Thanks for replys. Tree man, I see some of the housing prices are crazy there. But the taxes are nothing compared to here, so kind of a trade off.

I have a house for sale in Palmer Lake. Little Norman Rockwell town just North of the Springs. Shot my bow in the back yard for years. E-mail me if you might be interested. I've got to sell. Making 2 house payments has been a drag.
Get bamboo.
