Hey guys. Always been a bucket list item for me to take a deer with the recurve. I've been shooting consistently, but still need to put in more time. Got a question though

Out of my compound I shoot 100gr muzzy 3 blades. I'm planning on shooting 150 grain heads out of the recurve because the arrows tune the best to that weight.
In your opinion, should I just get a 50gr screw in adapter and use the muzzys? Or should I just go ahead and buy some 150 grain heads. If so, what do y'all suggest. Thanks.

Personally, I like a three blade cut on contact head.  Also, like 1 1/4" heads or better.  Whatever has been working for you should be fine, just bump the weight up to whatever the bow/arrow combination likes.

Nothing wrong with using a adaptor to bump up the weight but I would definitely consider a cut on contact type head.

I've shot a few with muzzy style chisel tip heads(the old satellite mags from the 90s and even an an old wasp broadhead ) devastating results and short blood trails...but nowadays prefer cut on contact heads. Whatever it is make sure it's matched to the spine and scary sharp (like you have no more hair on your arms from testing them) and you should do well!

I think a lot will depend on the weight of the bow and the total weight of the arrow. Look at the Magnus Stinger heads they have a 150gr 4 blade. It's cut on contact.
To answer your question the screw on weights work great, I'm using a 50 gr behind the 150 gr Stingers

Thanks for the input guys. I love the stingers. I shoot those out of my compound as well, 100gr. Blood trails are ok, but that doesn't matter when they fall within sight. Thanks for the help. I'm shooting #55@28. 340's cut to 30.5". 100gr inserts with 150gr heads. I'll toy around with it more, but these arrows fly like darts as far as I can tell.
