After a 10 year break, I'm going to be chasing elk with the recurve again this Sept.  I used to hunt elk every year when I lived in Colorado but now, being a resident of the state of confusion (Ca), it takes a bigger commitment to hunt the great wapiti. This year, I drew a cow tag for Wyoming.  Leaving 2 weeks from today! I'm planning an 11 day solo backpack hunt and will only have 1 day to scout a new area before the season.  Not high odds of bringing home meat but a guaranteed adventure.  Hopefully, I remember how to call, etc. but either way, it's gonna be fun.  Can't wait!

Just like riding a bike, once you get out there it's all going to seem like yesterday. Good luck on your cow tag, it will be fun regardless..!

When you hit that timber and that thermal brings that waft of scent into your face that raises every hair on your body up, you'll remember.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Good luck! Be careful, though. The hunting knowledge will come back to you quickly. The 10 years of age will not go away. Just take your age and conditioning into account and hunt accordingly. Post lots of pics when you get home.

Pretty awesome Doug, the sheer excitement of it about to happen is what we live for. I don't know how old you are, but sometimes we slow down a bit but that is all part of it. Soak it all in and enjoy it all. May you get a shot and your arrow fly true. Relive past memories and make new ones!

I believe that when you get out there, it all will become intuitive...I know you will have a great time!

I'm making my first elk trip in 15 years! I'm sure your like me in that I just want to slow everything down and suck in the entire experience.

Good luck! Post pictures when your back!

Thanks, all. I just bought all my groceries for the trip so...it's getting real! Will start sorting through all the gear this coming week. Not sure if I'll be much good at work but, don't tell my boss 🤫
