Anyone DIY woodyweights or alternative.

Can't get these in Canada and if I order  from USA I'm likely looking at an additional $15 per arrow.   Anyone do a DIY alternative that worked?  I tried lead in the broadhead but there's not enough room to get the 150 grns I'm looking for.

Never done it but I've heard you can drill into the point end of your woodie and insert a nail or some other type of weight into the shaft.
Are you looking to increase FOC or total arrow weight.

Looking to up my FOC.   I have some beefy lead core solder so maybe I can get some in the head and some in the shaft.

3-Rivers sells a jig to help you keep the hole centered and straight in the shaft.  I made my own.  It works, but doesn't add much weight.  If memory serves, I gained about 40 grains with 2 inches of 1/8-inch brass rod.

If you know a machinist, might just turn down/taper heavy glue on steel points. That's basically what woody weights are.

Why does everybody think they need more forward of center . For many years we all shot 125gr. heads and had great luck we got perfect arrow flight and great penetration for hunting. We bought arrows that were the right spine for our bows not arrows to long or too stiff that we had to add extra weight. Everything was matched .

I also used the 3 Rivers jig.  I used 8d nails with the head cut off.  I think that gave me about 2.5" of "internal footing" and added about 70 grains.  I used it to increase the durability of my wood shafts for stump shooting, but it also adds the weight.  It also stiffens the spine a bit.

for what it's worth, I also tried using aluminum rod to lighten the weight.  The Al rod didn't keep the shaft from breaking on rock impacts.
