To say I'm mad right now is an understatement...

I'm VERY  attention deficient... im distracted so easy its frustrating... my neighbor kept coming over, talking, I just pushed thru... was in hurry...
Glued up ..no tape....

So...im taking rest day off.....

Come back to work on it with a good attitude :)
Do all the work on the limbs you can leaving the epoxy on the glass.
Try carefully using a razor blade to get the epoxy off, maybe sand it thin before using the razor blade.

Next time send him (or her) down to the store for some expensive beer and take out.

Did you already bake? Any pics of the fiasco?

Roy from Pa

It happens.

I'm right handed and made myself a left handed bow by accident once, LOL.

You should be able to save it.

Ok so this is a newbie question about this mistake.   So is the concern that the tape is not in place with the center line marked or is the concern that you can't get the epoxy off the face of the fiberglass cleanly enough without messing it up?  I am guessing the later but just want to understand for sure.  If the later is the guess, is it possible to fix it by sanding close to it, or is it just very difficult and time consuming to to do that?  Just curious.  Sorry that happened to you.

:biglaugh:

I can laugh now, but I'm sure my turn is coming. The more bows I make, the more opportunity there is for disaster.

I don't use tape on glass.
Just on Carbon, because the surface will be messed up by sanding it more than absolutely necessary.

  Bummer... Lesson learned... I hope...

Rule numero 1...  Get rid of all distractions when you glue up a bow...  Tell the wifey your gluing a bow... (tell her what that means)  Call an expected friend and tell them the time slot you need... Put your dog up...

Rule numero 2... Make a checklist of every little detail that needs to be done and tools and materials at easy reach during glue-up...

Rule numero 3... Double check your checklist at glue-up time...

Rule numero 4... Triple check your checklist...

Rule numero 5... Let your dog out, give your sweetie a kiss, invite your friend over for a cold one and
tell him how awesome this bow is gonna be...

Sologuy

Well I made a it an R&D bow....
