Since i have been on the site, about 15 years :o Lots of water under the bridge, and lots of changes. In 2007 I moved from Oahu to Kauai, and did some nice hunts over there with selfbow and muzzleloader. In 2013 I moved down to American Samoa and did no hunting at all. I got back to Oahu earlier this year, and hope to get out in the woods again soon. All my gear is still down south, so might try to force dry some strawberry guava and make another selfbow. Just wanted to renew my acqaintances here on the site, aloha.  Regards, Steve

Aloha and welcome back! Would to see some wood and bow pictures you have. Strawberry guava does peak my interest.

Thanks Petrichor, unfortunately the airline destroyed my old Mac that had my old photos; i might be able to figure out how to get some back via Photobucket, but maybe not. When i can get out to get some wood, i will document the trip. Strawberry guava is a good bow wood if well dried, and is considered invasive by the State of Hawaii, so getting it is not an issue (or at least it used to not be). As far as color goes, it is kind of blonde with subtle grain, some might find it boring, but it makes a good self bow, kind of the hophornbeam of the Pacific :clapper: Aloha!

Fiddle sticks on the airline. But I look forward to the journey with the guava.

Welcome back and can't wait to see some more pics. Kauai is my favorite island. Hope to get back one day before I'm too old to hunt some pigs and goats!
