So a while back I mentioned to my wife that I would like to get a blacklight flashlight to use for blood trailing.
Everywhere I looked all I could find was fake ones.
( You can tell by shining it on a driver's license, you can see an invisible hull-o-gram)
She found one that is for law enforcement and night clubs to check for false IDs.
And of course we had to shine it on everything, like a couple of kids.
This kinda suprised me, I just happened to shine it on some of my archery tackle hanging on the wall.
Check out the results, even one of my spare strings.

A few years ago I was busted by an elk when I thought I was well hidden.  I bought a cheap ultra violet light and found the pants I had on that morning glowed like a night light.  I tested all my hunting clothing and found several shirts and pants that likewise glowed like crazy- they went in the trash.  I don't know if the light would work for blood trailing.

Where did she find that light? Brand or specs on it?
Thanks.

You can pick up an inexpensive light for testing what glows to deer from Amazon.  I got one this winter, and it works well.  My bow strings glowed brightly too.

Pretty cool.  How does it actually work on blood?

I don't think deer see like the black light shows UV. I do think they can see it as a shade but not the glow in the dark that a black light shows.

Looks like you'll need to wash your arrows and bowstrings in the UV Sports wash. Seriously though I'm convinced deer do not react to UV brighteners. I base that opinion on the fact I've never used the UV killer soap, wash my clothes in normal washing detergent and my average shot on whitetails is about 10 yards. I've had a doe step over my outstretched legs while sitting next to a tree Turkey hunting, she didn't even smell me let alone see my UV reflection. Scent and movement that's what gets you busted.

Been using a black light for years to find my lost judo arrows.  Shot a doe from the ground this year and couldn't find the arrow.  After dark found it easily.
