John McDonald's Birthday

Called John this afternoon to wish him a happy 92nd birthday, to tell him how glad I am to have a recurve (1996) and longbow r/d (2014) off his manufacture.  He thanked me a couple times.  Great to hear he is well.

Been focusing on backpacking.  Just completed another 74.1 miles of the AT, Neels gap to Rock gap in 6 3/4 days.  Hoping to see a bear, no luck.  Just work, hike and bike.

Told him I was very proud of his recurve (1996) and his D/R longbow (2014).  I recall he tried to talk me out of the 65# recurve, and am glad he didn't!!!  I'll be carrying it this year, give the longbows a break.

It was good to talk with him.  He repeated a few questions, but all in all good for 92.  I hope to make this an annual occurrence, with perhaps an extra time thought-out the year.

I'll be rocking his 50's style/Bear model recurve this year.  Have several sets of arrows that will fly well from it with good three blade heads.
