Cook is running a pretty good sale right now and the Katolox has caught my eye.  Any experience with it as riser wood?

Might be a pain in the rear to get it shaped :dunno:

Bell forest Info

Katalox is an exotic wood that is native to Central America. It is far superior in strength to either Teak or Hard maple. Strength qualities in compression parallel to grain are exceptionally high. It is very hard - much harder than White oak, Hard maple, or Teak. The wood is exceptionally heavy. It weighs much more than Hard maple or Teak in the green or seasoned condition. The wood is very dense.

Sounds brutal! Probably no more of a pain than some other nasty hard woods. Sure looks pretty in pictures.

I might try it in an ASL for starters.

I just glued up a riser for my next build with it. I didn't notice it to be any different than any of the other hard and heavy woods I've used in the past. [attachment=1]
