I was out there today....frightening. Just downright frightening. Deer are moving big time though.

Well, today was not what I was hoping for. I had a commitment (that I'd forgot about) and didn't get to spend as much time in the woods as I would've liked. No deer sighted and only 20-30 shots...the shots were spaced so far apart that I forgot to count! LOL! This evening I had to make a run a few miles north to pick up some stuff and saw 18 deer in the picked bean fields with a few young bucks amongst them. Can't hit the woods tomorrow but will be back at it on Monday! Good luck to all and hunt hard, hunt safe!

I hunted opening day of gun season today here in Missouri. Only heard 15 shots today. I sat from 6:00 am till noon and didn't see anything. My neighbors son hunting my place said he saw 5 or 6 small bucks crossing the field and several does. I couldn't hunt the afternoon. Looking at tomorrow afternoon but they're predicting rain.

I was out a total of about 7 hours yesterday. Saw 11 bucks and maybe a 10 does. 6 of the bucks were interested in the same doe, but not chasing. The biggest was the one guarding the doe and running other bucks off. He was bigger than anything I've taken and I spent 30-40 minutes of wonderful torture as he farted  around 30-35 yards away. Part of the time in thick brush but once in the open. It didn't feel right so I passed the shot. 30 is a long ways in the brush and I don't shoot that far anyway.

The doe finally came to the small creek and got a drink, but instead of coming across where I'd have a shot, she turned and moseyed away up the creek... He followed a ways back .

Stay sharp, Kenny.
