Can anyone recommend a good waterproof hat?  I really love the two tracks wool coup caps  but  in live in a rain forest so  it will get soak pretty quick.   I was thinking perhaps a boonie of some sort.

Check out "OR" aka Outdoor research they make a gore tex hat, actually several with nice big brim that really stays dry. Bends out of the way if string hits it. love mine

I've got an oilskin western hat that repels water and best part is it keeps it from running down my neck

I use my fedora and spray it with camp dry once a year giving it plenty of time to quit stinking before hunting season. Water just beads off of it.

My suggestion would be to buy the hat you want, then treat it with some good fabric waterproofing spray. Rustoleum makes a very good one, but there are others.

I bought a waterproof hat from one of the duck hunting catalogs I get. It's a boonie or some may call a bucket hat. You can roll the front back so the bow string don't hit it. It is gore tec very light weight

I have a Gore-Tex bonnie from Cabelas that works great . I also use Camp Dry on most of my hats and equipment that need water protection.

Frogg Toggs Boonie with a Terramar beanie liner underneath if cold.  Absolutely waterproof.

Filson waxed canvas packer hat, insulated since your up north. Warm and waterproof

My fedora does a good job of shedding rain, even without spraying it. This works well enough in moderate precipitation, but when rain is heavier, I use the hood on my rain jacket, as I head out of the woods. I don't generally hunt in bad weather, so my opinion may not be particularly relevant, but I would suggest Gore-Tex in a real downpour.

I do what Pat B does...I've got a nice collapsible Stetson that I like a lot. I spray it with camp dry and leave it in the shed a couple weeks so the odor is gone. I used to use it without spraying and it worked very well even then but eventually it would soak thru on a full day of bunting in a drizzle. No issues since the spray...I rarely hunt in anything worse than a mist now anyway...don't like hunting in the rain as I get older lol
