Time for a set or two of new shafts. I might not find any Doug Fir as light as I need for these, so my second choice is spruce.
Any good suppliers right now turning out Sitka Spruce, since Hildebrand has been bowing out?

Pat B

I got some very nice spruce arrows from True Shaft Archery. I don't have their contact info but you can Google them. Seems they are in Vancouver

Thanks for the tips. Trueshaft Archery is a new one to me, I'll have to check them out.
Wasn't sure if Raptor would still have any, thought Ted got them from Hildebrand.
As for Wapiti - I know they make great fir and cedar, never heard they make spruce tough.

True shaft is the way to go,  It's all I build my arrows from.    Check out their processes page  nothing but very high quality out of there.    Oh also  the Premium sitka spruce from BC  that 3R sells are from Trueshaft.

https://www.3riversarchery.com/premium-sitka-spruce-wood-shafts.html     These are from trueshaft   though its says 10 +/-   when he sells them 5+/-   could be a typo.

...and Wayne(the owner) is a heck of a nice guy.

About 3 weeks ago I got some 55-60 tapered shafts from Ted (Raptor).
He said he had a lot of the proper spine to start with (65-70?) before the taper job.

Raptor also get their Sitka from True Shaft Archery.

Zradix, were those a full length taper or just a tail taper?

Tail taper only.
11/32 to 5/16.

Tapers looked good. Shafts were pretty straight...some needed a little work, but they weren't bad.
The spine seemed pretty consistent as my paper tears were all very similar.
Don't have em all tuned yet...but I think I'll be trimming to very similar lengths.

Had no trouble finding True Shaft. I found some fir that fit the bill this time, but I'll definitely give True Shaft a try - I'm impressed by what they have to say about their product, and their ethics.

Roy from Pa

Yup Wayne is a cool guy. He is sending me some shafts soon too..

SuperK

I bought some of these shafts from Raptor Archery.  Some of the best shafting I have ever seen.  I plan on buying more soon.
