Looks like I will going to a work related conference this coming May and was wondering what I can do archery related while I'm there. I've never been to PA so I may take an extra day of two to take a look around. Ideas?
One stick, one string and an arrow I'll fling!

May 18-20 is the Baltimore Traditional Classic Rendevouz.About 1.5hrs south of Hershey but well worth the trip.

There's a fair-sized archery club on the ridge next to Hershey.  Can't think of the name right now but someone here will know.

Raineman

While you are in the area, you may want to take a ride to Wellsville and check out the Bowhunters Superstore.

Hemlock Archers is the archery club I think George may be talking about.  Located on route 72 going towards Lancaster.  In the area of Mount Gretna.

If you have never been to a Cabelas Store one of the largest in the USA is located very close in Hamburg, PA.  I believe there is only one larger in Texas and not by much.

Not archery but if your into MZ's and I don't mean in-lines about 15 minutes from Cabelas in Kempton, PA is a very unique and must to go store called Dixon's Muzzleloading Supply.

They are less than an hour from Hershey I would guess.

go check out fedoras bows,go carp hunting.

Raineman

Yeah, I forgot about the Cabelas. You may need two days for that alone! There is also a Bass Pro Shops very close I believe.

Going BAR hopping ? (Hershey BAR) OK  couldn't help it  sorry.

Man if I went there, I would have to go see the chocolate Mfrg, I am addicted.  You can tie this into trad archery because....Hershey's makes kisses, and kisses remind me of Cupid and he shoots a trad bow !

Don't waste your time with the factory tour.  It's a virtual tour and a waste of time.  They haven't taken anyone into the actual factory for years.

Thank you everyone for the ideas. Looks like I'll be there the week of the 17th so the Baltimore Classic may be an option. Cabela's sounds great too. Turkeys would be nice if I can get the lay of the land between now and May.

I'm about 45 minutes from Hershey, and I'd recommend the BAltimore Bowmen's Classic.  It's a great time, and alot of Tradgangers show up.

If you need any info, give me a shout.

Yep, no real tours anymore.  To much of a liability.  You sit in a chair that moves you through a tour and the only part you see of the real factory is a short section behind glass as you move by.  Then your dumped off by the store to spend your cash, all the while during the "tour" the air smells of chocolate to get your senses going.

For my money if I was in the area and only had a short amount of time I would hit Cabelas, amazing place and the Whitetail Exhibit is a must see as well as all the other animal exhibits.  The store is as much a museum as it is a retail store.  Like I mentioned earlier if your into "traditional" muzzleloading Dixon's is a must visit as well.  Very, very cool store and it's located in a georgeous part of PA.

The town of Dairy does have a neat trolly ride though. And shows you alot of great stuff Hersey does for orphans and the community. They are a first rate company... World would be a lot better if other companies took their lead.
Also, don't miss Cabela's......wonderful!!!
