So my hunting partner Olivia and I headed out for our weekly stump shoot / rabbit hunt.  Here she is waiting for me to get my act together.  We hunted the same spot last weekend and put up 8 rabbits.  I whiffed on one, deflected off a branch on another and center punched a fence post on a third runner.  You know the feeling on release when its a perfect shot?  Well then when you hear the thud of lumber you know something was in the way.  Let's see if I can do better this week.

The temp is -3 but the snow we had last week has all melted.  It's a lot more fun when you can follow the rabbit tracks but we're happy to be hunting anyway.

Yesterday I footed 3 arrows so when I saw this perfect stump I had to let fly.  After the shot I paced it off at 28 yrds, the arrow hit 5" lower than I aimed.  After pulling the arrow it gave me the confidence that the footings would do their job so I put em to the test.  Shot several more logs and the arrows all held up great.

We slowly walked the fields and hedge rows for about 2 hours.  I shot at anything that grabbed my attention.

We started working our way back to the hedge row that we seem to have the best luck with.

We had put up two rabbits but no shot opportunity.  Livy gave one clump of brush a real good look which got me looking hard too.  I saw a cottontail sitting tight in the thick cover.  A couple more steps and I had an opening.

I made the shot!!  Rabbit stew tomorrow.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

Very well done... I went out this past weekend and a group of us walked for 6 hours without kicking up a rabbit! First time in three years we haven't brought any home... I also enjoy the fact that I am the only one out of 9 others that hunts with a bow on our trips... they call me "yellow feather" lol
