Glue Up Gaps

Took this out of the clamps today and after clean up was disappointed to see bad lines around the fades on one side. Would y'all recommend taking the back off or is there something I can fill it with ?

I wouldn't take the back off. Mix up some of the same glue and force it in there. Use a toothpick to push it in and get the air pockets out.

You are going to do facets on the edges of the limbs anyway. Most or some of it will go away.

Yeah I agree with Roy. You may have to fill it 3 or more times depending on what glue you use, but you should be able to minimize its appearance.

I'd shape the riser first and then determine how much needs to be filled. Most or all of the problem might dissapear in the process.

Been there and done it. It needed a bit of super glue fill but it's still shooting ugly glue line and all!

tape one side to keep the glue from running thru, then fill with super glue

Trying to 'fill' it won't help other than filling the void with something.
You see the problem is that you have already applied glue to the woods there and therefore the pores are already filled glue and are unable to accept any more for a decent bond.
Remove the backing and redress the surfaces. Remember that area is under more strain than anywhere else and a failure there is likely to be spectacular! The other point is that the area mustn't have had sufficent clamping pressure and you don't know what is going on with the glueline where you can't see/next to the gaps. It isn't worth leaving it for it to break down the line.

Gaps don't run all the way through. The farthest I could get a piece of small wire in was maybe a 1/16". I'll try to fill it and see how it goes.

Cut a piece of alum. soda/beer can (3"L x 1/4" wide). You can scrape out any loose glue & then force in new glue. Should work out fine.

i agree with the sentiment to rough out first and then see where you are. I would assume you might not even have a problem once you round all that over.
