I have used a lot of poplar for lams in kid's glass bows with good results. Cheap and easy to find good poplar lumber.

The nice green color makes veneers. Think it will turn brown after awhile though. I used it as core along with Aboo in one bow and as far as I know still shooting well.

Yes unfortunately  ive never seen the green color stay permanently. It turns brown with age no matter what you finish it with.

The green colored poplar is the heart wood. It is more brittle than the sapwood. I have arrows made from poplar and the sapwood makes the better shafts.

Thanks Pat I was wondering about that.
