ejhorstick, the design isn't really unique. it's just my interpretation(albeit a loose one)of a Grumley Deerslayer. been working on it, tweaking it, for over ten years. so far, this is the version I'm most pleased with.

Wolftrail, I don't want to get into an elaborate, confusing explanation here, but the reason for making the lower limb shorter is to move the geographic center of the bow up to the same position on the handle as the dynamic fulcrum(the epicenter of my hand pressure on the handle).  for a more in depth explanation, read this article.   http://www.bowyersedge.com/organic.html

I make all of my bows with a shorter lower limb for the same reasons. It balances the bow in the hand while carrying, and goes a long way toward putting the static and dynamic fulcrums in very close proximity to one another... better aligned with the string fulcrum too. This minimizes the shift from static to dynamic that can be quite sizeable in some bows. How these things are oriented in a bow influence how it draws, shoots, tunes, etc.

for certain, the added bonus of better physical balance in the carrying hand is largely overlooked, or perhaps undervalued, but it can make a big difference if you are carrying it for long periods of time. or maneuvering silently through thick brush or need to point and shoot quickly at moving target.
