limb butts that is    :readit:

How do you guys shape the end of your take down limbs? Do you freehand, use a jig, etc?  If you do use a jig, can we see it?

Other than limb pad and rough cut on shelf/window, I love free-hand for everything else on the riser.   :shaka:

Thanks Roy, 'cept I clicked on wrong picture/wrong bow side! What a schmuck! Anyway, you get the idea.

Good one Chuck!

Pheonixarcher

That's sweet! What kind of wood is that?

I free hand mine and blend them into the riser.

Mike is that a plastic template underneath? Do you bolt it to the limb?

Deadly, captain! That Zebrano is a killer.

Pheonixarcher

That is one fine piece of zebra! Always been one of my favorites, but this one takes the cake.

That grip looks outstanding! How about another pic or two?

Wow that palm rest (?) looks just perfect!

Thanks a lot guys, beachbowhunter here's a better example showing actual limb butts this time! Jigs are definitely better for consistency, but for me, I seldom make two bows exactly the same. This one I wanted harder lines, a little more 'radical' I guess.
Yeah, sometimes it can bite you in the arse, go too far on one and you have to play match up with the other, but it opens up creativity and the bow will start to tell you what it wants to be. RL=http://s123.photobucket.com/user/bonzaibows1/media/PICT0006_zps42694b81.jpg.html] [/IMG]

Mark you clearly have a great eye for the wood grain. I like how you did the actionwood on that one. Very nicely executed.

Nice butts too.

Pheonixarcher

That is nicely done! I was thinking about trying something similar on my next three piece. Great job!
