Small Game Points revisited

I posted a thread awhile back on .38/.357 cal. small game points. Below are what they looked like. I had a hard time keeping the blades in even using JB Weld.

I have since come up with this design. After testing I have found it to be a much more durable design. It works much like the ACE Hexheads.

To make this style you use the same materials:
* .38 or .357 cal. cartridge
* a square of banding strap
* pop rivet
Drill a hole in the expended primer of the cartridge (don't try this with a live primer )
Drill a hole in the center of the square of banding steel
Pop rivet it in.
Bend the corners up to a 90 degree angle.
You're done!

This is the one I actually shot and the corners didn't lose shape.

They did work and well. They just couldn't take repeated shots and hold up.

VA, any idea what guage banding you used? I might want to try some of those.

No, I don't know what gauge it is. I go to new subdivisions where new houses are being built and pick up the banding that the roof trusses are banded with.

No, I didn't temper them.

That is a heck of a design. You should contact someone about making those and selling them. They could even be designed with replaceable blades.

That is really a brilliant idea, that is one marketable head. I recommend you don't let Barta see it or it will be called The Barta Banded Bunny Blender!!! I'm gonna call it Bingel's Banded Bunny Blender, or Bingel's Bunny Blaster or.... come on guys we need to get Robert's name stuck on this one it's awsome.

Those are both great heads! i've been making one that looks like the first for a couple years now using a method Tom Musatto put on his website. same idea but using a bleeder blade instead of a bandsaw. i use that superglue gel and they are pretty darn tough. i'm gonna have to try and make that second one now.

Excellent!!!! I've been planning to make some up for some Ramin shafts I picked up. I'll have to try some of that style. I like the extra cutting power, and they definitely seem simple to make.

oh and I vote for Bingel's bunny blasters. (blender was just to visualy messy for my taste)
