Here's how my hickory/walnut/osage bow turned out.  I'll try to get a full draw pic of it this weekend.  Really glad I found this site with it's great group of bowyers who are always willing to share their experience with a newbie.  I made the tip overlays from quarter sawn osage after reading that suggestion on one thread and am thinking of setting my bow in a south facing window to darken the osage after reading John's tip on that.  So much information here; even Roy can be helpful once in a while   :D











I just ordered a dozen cedar shafts and still need to learn how to make a flemish twist, so that gives me a good reason to quit while I'm ahead.  On the other hand, I have a jumbo hickory board, a little red elm and osage, some bamboo and some birch bark sitting in my basement and a few ideas

Thanks guys!  Just have to get my daughter to take the full draw pic now and hope it looks good    :rolleyes:   I was at 1/4" positive tiller, but after I did the final sanding and shot it for awhile it ended up about even.  As usual, I was antsy to finish it and decided to leave it that way.  Guess I can always go back and sand the top limb a bit more.  Thanks Macbow for suggesting Unibond over TB 3 for the glue up.  It did a great job filling in the small gaps and I'm sure I got a better bond with it

I shot about 250 arrows from it at my town's public outdoor range yesterday afternoon and love the way it shoots.  It was the first time I shot from 20 yds after shooting a lot from 10 at my basement target over the winter.  Man that 20 yd target looked so far away and my shooting was pretty ugly    :eek:   The arrows flew nice and straight tho, just high, low, and mostly to the left.  Things got a little better after I figured out that I was torquing the bow.  I had the range all to myself and got to watch a good sized whitetail for awhile out about 150 yds in the open field behind the bales I was shooting at.  Pretty neat.
