After reading all I could, and taking your best suggestions to heart. I told my two and a half year old daughter to rasp away everything in this stave that did not look like a bow..

She later told me, there was no bow...

:)

I have new respect for you bowyers.  It's a great workout, I had to stop to catch my breath... Several times! I almost have my first osage stave roughed out...  This piece is "iffy" had to shorten to 63" to avoid a knot.. but good practice..  might even make a bow yet...

Little ones are so cute.   :biglaugh:
Of course now you have to make it up to her with a bow she can use.   :archer2:

I made her a PVC bow and painted it pink..  When she saw it, she smiled from ear to ear and said "Outside, shoot turkey".... so we went and plinked arras at the 3d turkey..

I was working on the stave with the draw knife, using the deck steps as a "vise", when I noticed she'd picked up the sliver and was rasping it..  I snuck away to get my phone to photograph... She messed with it for 15 or so minutes.. too funny...

what a great story!  Agree with Troy. Hold those moments, as before you know it they are all growed up and flown the coop.

And don't forget to back up the pictures, sometimes taking them isn't enough.

Hard lesson, learned the hard way.
