Spliced limb laminates

I thought I would throw these up and see what you all think. It is cocobolo spliced with bocote I am using a carbon core for this set of limbs as well  [/url] [/IMG]

Looks good, I've done the same thing with cherry and walnut with a thin maple spacer.

I take the boards at say 1 inch thickness then make the cuts and use smooth on epoxy to glue them together then once they are cured I cut the laminates from the 1" board it keeps all the glue lines straight and works really well.

Has anybody ever cut splices like this and not used a core in the laminates? do you have to have a core wood laminate?

A glue joint is SUPPOSED to be stronger than the wood itself, but I like more angle on the cuts.  

Look at the actionwood angle cut(flat grain?), it is about the same in a thin lam...

Good point I never thought of it that way. I will get these limbs in the oven in another day or so and let you all see the whole deal
