What a knothead!

This is my favorite piece of vine maple that I brought back from vacation. It sure looked smooth until I peeled off the green bark and saw all the lumps and bumps.    
How well does vine maple hold up in very dry climates?

Probably horrible Greg...better drop it at the post office and send it to wet, muggy Michigan

Yeah I dont know either but you can send it to me.  It would at home with the humidity we have here in SC.  LOL

Geeze Greg I've got a couple that look alot like that. I'm bettin they hold up just fine.

Mark,
I think your staves came from the same general area. This one has a big knot(thus the name "knothead")in the middle, it stands about 1" tall. I can always store it in the basement where the humidity is higher, with my yew bows.
Sorry guys, if I send out any more trees the mail ladies at the post office are going to beat me with a stick. Something about being too heavy.
