This wood was cut last september and after splitting I did not really think it was going to amount to much of anyhting. There is a weak area that wanted to hinge right away but turned out ok for what it was intended. I backed it with material cut from an ARMY uniform I wore in El Salvador last year hence it's name 'Salvador'. 43# @ 26" and 62" nock to nock. Flemish string I made myself. I made it for my 14 yr old daughter as a gift.
After no success with board bows (my own fault)and years of not trying at all I'm getting back into this hobby since I have a house to work out of. I'm working on the sister stave to this one but have the same weak spot and it seems to not want to be a bow but I'll keep at it. This is my first "shooter" but won't be my last!

Oh and the rest is otter hide/fur trimmed short and glued to a oak burlrest same burl for the tip overlays and the handle is Jute twine wrapped and TBIII covered. I love the way that handle came out and intend to use that more often.

Looks pretty sweet man! I really like the backing on that.

Believe it or not the "HARDWAY" is often the EASIER way(in hindsight)!

Great lookin bow. I really like the handle. What is jute twine and where do you get it? Is it kinda like hemp cordage?

Nim-rod

Okie64 I got this at either HD or Lowes and it's just a spool of hairy twine like hemp. Once you start gluing it and twisting it around wet it lays the hairs down and looks good. Nice grip action too.
