Building bows while hunting while skipping class can't beat it with a stick   :bigsmyl:

Stiks-n-Strings

In the fall I rut and in the spring I strut! rest of the year I build and what ever else. I am skipping opening weekend of turkey season to go to the Tennessee Classic. I'm kinda torn over that but I have set a goal to kill a bird this year with a stone point and selfbow. If I can't do that I won't take a bird. I've took one the last 6 years on opening day so I'm kinda getting over it and need to up the ante.

Hunting then building. It's got to be a VERY special bow to get built between Sept and January

I like building bows tons more than hunting. Even though it's become my job and not just a hobby, I still look forward to getting bows built.  Hunting to me wasn't ever really a recreation, but a simple, economical way to get meat and I'm very accomplished at it.  The time in the woods is great but I can do that without a weapon in my hand.  I haven't hunted really since I got my kids back and quit paying child support.

The bowyer side of my life is still young but it has become part of the way of life I live. It's become part of who I am. I enjoy everything to do with living with nature and the bounty it provides. It's a whole process to me from the flight of the arrow to table fare to the smell of a cool september morning. It just adds another process to the whole experience for me.

Well I took the afternoon off and went to the woods. Killed a few rotten stumps, checked out some possible bow wood (considering a primitive made bow), tried out my duck arrow (it failed), and decided on a place to put a tripod for next deer season.

I'm a born hunter and fisherman, try to do a lot of both. the last 5 or 6 years Deer hunting has taken center stage. I just started trying to build bows, but I like to think I'm " pretty bad" at the Deer game after 36 years of it- cherish every season.

My two earthly passions: I build to hunt, and hunt to justify the build and I live to ride and ride to live.
