Well, first let me say hi to all the Tradgang members and a big thanks for the information you all put on this great forum for all of us to use.  I have been lurking here in the shadows for a while, reading all I could, and finally decided to give bowyering a go.  A big thanks to 4est trekker for the great build along he produced.

For the most part I followed that build along.  I did vary a bit from the dimensions, mainly due to my novice abilities with woodworking.  But in the end I think I came out with a fine bow.

It was made from a Red Oak board and is 2" at the tapers to 1/4" at the nocks.  ~ 1/2" thick over the length of the bow.  It is 66 1/2" NTN and pulls 50# @ 28".  It has taken on some string follow (~3") but it shoots real nice and is super quiet.  I have shot about 100 arrows through it now, mostly at about 10yds, but just got outside and shot some at 20yds and it is very accurate.  Well enough of the talk, here are a few pictures for you.  Comments are more than welcomed.

Very nice bow for your first. You nailed the tiller! That full draw pic shows the tiller of an expert.

Nice job!  Just finished my first bow recently - that first shot feels good.  What did you finish it with?

J Dean

I used 2 light coats of Light Amber Shellac to finish it.
