How to remove finish from snakeskins?

I while ago I posted a about a issue I was having issues with 2 part Krystal finish from sticking. I was lifting off causing the limbs to look white.
Now I need to remove the finish without hurting the skins, anyone have any ideas? I've been rubbing it with acetone but I don't think is really removing much if any.
