I have some quilted maple veneers .025 thick and I would like to dye them blue. I have some water-base leather dye, would that work or what do you guys suggest...............James

I did some research on this last year and I think an alcohol based dye was said to work better??

i would probably agree that an alcohol based dye would work better, anything water based added to wood has to be done in small increments, and then enough time for the woods moisture content to equalize.

I use water base analine dye for limb veneer, alcohol base analine fades over time. The laminations dry in a couple hours if placed in the oven with the lid open. Something to remember is the epoxy will give the limb a golden hue when glued up.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming
