Canary Wood ?

How does the color hold out over time? Is canary wood like osage where it darkens over time or does the color stays the same over time? I really like the yellow and orange tones in the wood.

I have not experienced any color fade with the Canary wood that I have used.  I have made many, many kids bows using Canary wood for the handles and Western Red Cedar for the limbs.  The colors of both woods have held up over time.  I have also been sawing off the same board of canary wood for about 10 years now.  No change on the full board either.

I am from Ottawa. We need to shoot sometime. I am curently workin on my third design of a one piece recurve. This one will be a shooter! Thanks Todd for the info. I have given three bows away and sold another at cost. Its fun to see the look in a newbee's eyes when you give them a bow. They're college kids with plenty of debt so what the heck maybe someday they will pass it on to someone else in need.

Ravenclaw, here is a pic of 2 kids bows with Canary handles and Cedar limbs.  I am having trouble findings my older bow pics right now, so this one will have to do.  I do have 1 of these kids bows in my garage, so I will take a better photo of it later for you.

OK, here are a couple more pics I just took.  They did not turn out real well, but after looking at the bow again (and comparing the pics), I do see that the Canary wood has darkened a bit with age.  The new pics actually make it look darker than it appears in real life, but it has darkened some.

The first pics are when the 2 bows are brand new and freshly built, probably 10 years ago.  These pics are from today.  I think it aged nicely, kind of a "mature" darkening if you will.  It is nothing like the darkening of Osage, just for comparison.

The handles and handle overlays are Canary wood.  The limbs are Western Red Cedar.
