best sealer for a bow

I'm looking to refinish my Great plains Rio Bravo are there any good sealers that you can buy without ordering .say like Lowes are Home Depot.Also how do i need to prep the surface so it doesnt peel.Any info would be appreciated.thanks Chuck

what about plain shellac?  do people use that?

not sure what kind of bow that is but ive used shellac for bows, its fairly easy to put on and if you use a scotchbrite between coats can get it pretty smooth. im not certain how much moisture shellac lets in but you might be able to seal it with wax too. if its a lam bow youre looking at tru oil and poly or just poly. hope this helps.

if you call Great Plains maybe he can do it and make it look new again. I use Spar Urethane satin in a spray can for the bows I'm making..I may try to use Fullerplast or a similar product later this year..but for now the Minwax Spar Urethane is working.

great idea contacting the maker, im sure they can tell you how to restore the finish or get it close.
