Just curious, is this wood any good for a bow? Possibly use for a laminated bow?

I have heard of folks using sycamore for bows but never have myself. I believe Mike Treadway has used sycamore for lams, possibly even spalted sycamore.

I know it stays nice and straight after cutting, works pretty easy... just don't know about bows.

Bought some spalted sycamore veneers last year at Denton from a vendor and put them in a longbow for myself. Really beautiful stuff!

Looks great under glass.

Mike.....so does Pheasant, in them fancy restaurants!!
  :)

Went to a fancy place and asked what it was served to a table next to us.  The waiter said, "Sir. that is "Pheasant under glass".
I then said, I probably best have the "Smothered Chicken".
I figured it was a more humane way to kill the bird.

Never tried any Sycamore under glass......

Ive made a couple from quarter sawn sycamore and they look great. They shoot fine also. Sycamore is known as a cousin to maple and seems to have the same characteristics.
