Bird and Trout (Curly Koa)

Here is a little fancier bird and trout I just finished up. This one has a hand rubbed L6 blade and some really fantastic stabilized curly Koa, on a tapered tang. The pins are copper with white fiberglass. I am starting to use these copper/hybrid pins I make on more and more of my knives as kind of a signature thing. The sheath is a hand stitched horizontal carry rig.
I got to try out my new leather stamp on this one also, pretty happy with it.
OAL on this one 7.5" w/ a 3.5" blade.

That is awesome.  I usually prefer a profile with a little more of a built in "gaurd" to keep my finger from sliding up on the blade, but there is no doubt that the sleek profile on this one looks outstanding.  Very nice koa too.  I used some unstabilized on a project earlier this year and it's now one of my favorite woods for a knife.  Sheath is a perfect match to it and the new stamp looks great.

I still like a more pronounced drop at the ricasso better, but there are many, I am sure, who like this style better.

Thanks for the comments guys. Most of my knives have a dropped blade. This one I wanted to keep nice and slim. For most tasks these small knives will be used with a pinch grip or with the index finger along the spine.

Very nice work. I think maybe you have something with those pins. I like them better than the mosaic pins I've used - a little more restrained and elegant.

Koa sure is hard to beat. Looks like "over the top" walnut.

Excellent! I had a recurve bow built with koa in the riser==cut offs from a furniture place on Kauai we brought back; and tonken cane over bamboo in the limbs, water stained to show the cane 'joints'. I always thought it would be fun to have a koa knife to go with it. Yours is beautiful and shows off the koa very well. Koa is a great-looking wood.  Nice work.
