I'm not even sure how to classify this one?
But it's something I've had a hankerin' to make for a while.
A Damascus Brut de Forge, selectively ground and finished, and then hot-blued like all of my damascus, but leaving the un-ground, as-forged portions natural.
I find the delineation between the hot-blued and finished pattern weld and the as-forged rough and black area very appealing.
Then with cord wrap and ray skin handle.
The whole thing is just black, Black, BLACK!
It'll get an 'inside-the-belt' sheath since it's so thin, with a quick removal button so you don't need to remove the belt.
Should make a really nice and fancy EDC fixed blade.
(I've got a couple coming right behind this one with Sambar and ivory scales!)
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

Never leave the one you love, for the one you like.

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

Karl,

Did you affix the rayskin in any way or is it just wrapped under the cord to hold it?

Cool lookin' knife there!!!!

wow.... wow. I love the combo of everything on that... I don't believe I've ever seen a brute de forge damascus blade.  But I haven't been around long... Congratulations.

amazing knife.not very often you see tsuka-ito maki on a knife like that, but its very fitting. Ive refinished kitanas that people have abused, and collect them myself, so its something ive learned to appreciate. the bluing looks excellent as well. kinda reminds me of an old charcoal blue.
