During one of my countless searches for new knife designs and ideas, I ran across this neat sheath. Anyone know what it's made of?

Looks like leather someone molded into a gator pattern.

Not sure, but I'd like to see the knife too.

I'd have to guess molded leather. It doesn't look quite like any reptile scale patterns I've ever seen.

I thought it looked like carp too...but I've never seen finished carp have such dramatic texture. I would think leather would be awfully hard to tool that randomly and with so many contours/depths...could be wrong.

I've sent an email to the maker to see if he'll tell me. I'll let you guys know if I find out. Whatever it is, it's cool looking stuff.

First, I thought ostrich leg skin ... but the scales looks like fish skin ... maybe "Niles's bass" (not sure of the name in american ???) "perche du Nil" in french.
