Anybody ever use Ipe wood for handles? I got some froma guy at work. Heavt dense wood. I can see me dulling a saw blade cutting this stuff.<><

Frank, I have never used it but I bet it would work great.  All the ipe I have seen is very plain looking, does some of it have nice figure?

Haven't used it, but according to my info it has a Janka hardness factor of 3680, thats about as hard as wood gets. That would make it about three times harder than Red Oak.

Yep it's hard. And yes I have a piece that almost looks like curly IPE? Whe ya wet it it looks great. I can get alot of this froma guy at work. They use it on decks and throw the scraps away.<><

Been using Ipe for many years for footings and such, great hard/dense stuff... Mine is kinda plain stuff but makes a good handle, built this one in "06".
