I came across a really rough '73 Super K and as part of sanding it clean I'm noticing what looks like sanding through the red tips.  This is only 150 grit sanding, but have I sanded through the red color?

And the second question, is there anything a person can do to make these spots not quite so obvious?

Whip

It's a personal preference I guess, but I like the variation in color.  It even adds character.
To see what things will look like finished just wipe those tips with denatured alcohol.  You should see that they will look just fine.

In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln.

Wow those are some really beautiful bows !! some might say works of art . I notice that they are lefties , and I may be out of line but the popular auction sight has a 65 kodiak lefty , Just saying!! I'm a right hander (some might consider that a handicap)so I'm not interested in a left hander . again beautiful bows what year is the blue strpe? and are they rare ?

Carlos, you weren't kiddin about your Bear affliction were you?  You can save yourself some money buying old Bears by letting me send you some of my old Bears to work on...  I think that is what you call a win..win  :p

These are such nice looking bows anyway, I think it only enhances the look. I would say leave it, as that is the way it originally was. I would value the opinion of the guys above.

Brian it has only gotten worse since Compton.  If you remember I brought this bow up to Compton and left it with Whip because the the handle overlay was peeling off.  He put a new one on it and did it ever turn out pretty.  I need to take some better shots, but here's some before/after...
