A real Serious Pearson Deadhead

The name "Damn Good Head" is an elevated name from the broadhead pictured below my name at bottom of my posts...that is a "Good Head" made in 1998.
Wade, surprised you didn't catch that.
I thought I was being [constructive] in my retirement, perhaps I need to be "more" constructive? Although there are folks that think I'm "destructive"!
No book/master list in place or planned for modified broadheads. Can't even get Commemorative heads documented.

Ron B - Yes, I did catch that elevated name.

Just edited the post at the top of page 2... it now includes an article I have been working on about the history of the name within the broadhead collecting community.

Let me know if I left anything out in my brief summary.

The original articles, Ed's Cartoons, etc, would probably best be preserved if all collected together and published in a separate book that the ABCC could publish... The title could be the original cartoon title... "The Misadventures of Charlie GoodHead"

For those who don't know Charlie GoodHead (the Dilbert of Broadhead Collecting), here he is on the cover of the ABCC Newsletter, which just happens to be the issue that introduces Ron's "Good Head" as the "Special Feature".

If you were not there, you missed some really good times.

Bill - Nice photograph of "Pin Head". That would be a Pinned Bear, of course...

Ron R - Glad you liked the good head history. That LaFonds insert looks like a skinny, vented, sloped shoulder Rounder...

Ron R - Do you know of any ABCC Commemorative heads that are missing from pages 10 to 13 of "Broadheads 1972-2007" ? If so, I would like to get photographs and information about them...

BowDoc, I still have that modified Pearson I bought from you on ****, but I haven't figured out how to upload photos on this site, I have tried but its a little more complex than the *********** and my computer skills aren't the best.I have some other Pearson's also that are uniquely modified.

Bill, thanks for posting the photos, the greyish colored head on the left is the Pearson I got from bowdoc.The yellow head is a modified Pearson 3 blade switchblade, also the large and the small biscuit cutters are made by the same master craftsman.

bayoulongbowman, next time I talk to Ron I will ask him, but I do know you cant get the blades to hot or they warp and wouldnt line up straight. It takes exsperence and skill and the proper tools to get things right.These spin perfect and are specialty items,like little works of art and very few were made.

What did you use to make the slot in the head?
I am wanting to slot some 2 blade simmons tiger sharks. I have tried a dremmel tool but the slot was sloppy and the bleeder did not fit very tight.

I use 1/32" cutoff wheels, probably they are from Dremel. I've had them for awhile.
I have a jig that another friend made 30 years ago. I have done them by hand with a Dremel tool but there is no coffee drinking allowed before or during the slotting operation as the hands get too shaky! You have to be careful with these thin blades as they blow in an eye blink! Always wear your goggles!

Awh just two hand it, you'll be fine. Do you square the ends of the slots with a blade or leave the radius from the wheel?
