Okay so for the past 7 years or so that I have been shooting.. I have never really payed attention to to back tension.. EVER. I thought it was a load of bullcrap and didn't make any sense.. But today at the range two fellows came up to me and explained it all in a way that made alot of sense to me.. and after that. HO - LEE - COW. I have never shot so damn good in my entire life.. My groups at twenty yards went from 5-6 inches to 3-4 inches. I have alot of learning to do and it's times like these that really reinforce that.. BUT I DO HAVE A REAL QUESTION.

I have a hard time identifying that I am indeed using my back muscles to their fullest potential shooting trad. For those of you guys that use back tension and implement these muscles as well

HOW DO YOU DO IT?! What are your ways of making sure you are indeed using back tension and what are some techniques that you find helpful.

I squeeze my shoulder blades together at full draw. Years of seated rows in the gym kinda made it easier to focus on.

I still struggle with it hard sometimes to feel if I'm truly using the right muscles but good for you.

Talon, go over to the Shooter's Form Forum; there's a BUNCH of excellent information there, and definitely some that address your question specifically - and well.

Just search "back tension", if you need to at all - I think there's one post pretty high on the page to get you started.
