When you guys cant your bow to the side, do you also cant the angle of your string hand? In other words, if a right handed shooter cants teh bow to the right, should he also change the angle with which he holds the string? Otherwise it seems there would be a twisting or bending of the string in different directions?   Any merit to this or not???

yes the string, bow, back of the hand and head/face should all be at the same angle.

Yes...you must cant the string hand the same angle or you will have string torque by creating a 'Z' in the middle of the string.

Reason I ask was a few years ago, Fred Asbell did an article in Trad mag.. And he (from what I understood) talked about rotating the string hand to the left! He said it took pressure out of the hand and caused it to be relaxed... I've gotten into a nasty habit of this and it certainly cuases a bad release on the string....  Anybody else remember that article?

Steve,  That will certainly relax the hand.  The thing most forget though is that it's the string hand that directs the bow IF your grip allows it.  If your grip is too tight/hard, than that will cause the torque in the string that causes a bad release.  It is a package deal, string hand guides the orientation of the bow IF the grip is correct.  But too tight a grip will make you align the string hand to the vise like grip and will be much more difficult to control.
