Cecil,I was at the point of giving up.I'm not a quitter, that's why I've been fighting TP for years I've tried alot of different techniques to help my TP.All of them helped to a degree but it always came back.I just couldn't get a handle on it.What I'm doing now has worked far better than anything that I've ever tried.I know Rick Welch has alot of success stories from his classes.I'm using his techniques with a few of my own modificatons and it's working much better than I ever thought it could.

I'm with knobby, whatever works for you, use it and don't overthink it, if it works I would not consider it a bandaid in anyway, the feather to your nose is no different then a finger to the corner of your mouth or any other anchor. If anything, its a help because the more instant your release, the lesser chance of flinching at the shot. Consider yourself lucky you found a method that works for you and enjoy shooting. I also use alot of the Rick Welch methods, but like you, I use a deep hook and it has really helped my control.

I'm going to get flamed by some for saying this... but here goes. A clicker used properly is a release trigger. It's just like shooting with a back tension release for a compound shooter. You only have two things to do. Aim and pull, and many focus on just one of those two. The release is subconscious. You train yourself to release on the click.

I don't know why anyone would flame you for saying that; it's an excellent analogy. Whenever a compound shooter sees my clicker and asks about it, I explain it similar to what you posted: a clicker is to a finger shooter what a back tension release is to a release shooter.

I just have to say this again. It is really amazing that my TP is under control now.I'm shooting very well now and doing it consistently.I've been using this technique for a few months now. This is by far the longest that I've ever shot this well.I'm really not sure why this particular shot process is working so well for after all of the other things that I've tried to conquer TP.It has really given me fits over the years to the point of wanting to give it up because it's just no fun for me to shoot and not shoot well.I'm just a hard head I guess.I've tried everthing over the years, clicker inlcluded(which I could never get used to).I've bought and sold alot of bows and even dropped down to 38#.I'm shooting 44# now and it's seems to be an ideal weight for me.To all who are suffering from TP, it can be contolled.Just keep trying and try different techniques.

Really glad you posted this Ray. A lot of us have the exact same problem. Funny thing, a week ago I put on a clicker and also adjusted to feathers on my arrows to touch my nose at anchor. I automatically started to go to full anchor and release at the feather to the nose trigger (most of the time I the clicker doesn't even go off). One thing the clicker did teach me was how inconsistent the draw length can be even with a double anchor - I guess the head automatically leans forward in an effort to aim.
Thanks

targets3D,yea,the feather to the nose really did it for me.I guess that different things work for different people.I just can't control my target panic any other way.I still have bad days shooting but the difference now is that when I'm shooting bad or make a bad shot,I can usually identify the problem. My consistency is up 100%.I'm really using the "Rick Welch" technique with a couple of modifications. He is the real deal and the system he teaches works.I've never been to his class but have his videos and have learned alot from those who have taken his class. It's certainly helped me improve my shooting.

I just got MBB4. It is mostly about the mental part of archery. Joel Turner has a segment on it and he draws to anchor and then keeps drawing while saying keep pulling over and over until his feather touches his nose and then releases . I just got back from shooting and shot this way all evening and IT WORKED!! It was the most fun I've had shooting for a while thanks to tp. Get the video and try it. I'm pretty excited about it.
