My string keeps hitting the side of my nose when released. Any tips to remedy this problem? My shooting seems to be great (just painful)!!!!

McDave

You may be able to remedy this by rotating your head more toward the target.  If you can do this, it will not only rotate your nose out of the path of the string, but may also improve your shooting, as a forward-facing head is considered good form.  My head will only rotate so far, fortunately just far enough to get my nose out of the path of the string.  If it wouldn't, I guess a visit to my chiropractor would be in order, to see if there he could increase my range of motion.

Thanks, I'll be giving this a try this evening.............Guess it's back to the form for awhile !!!!!!

This seems to be a problem for me where I've shot Longbow for 12 years with slight bow\\head cant, I've made the switch to target Recurve shooting Bowhunter Div, 3 under with vertical bow but still kept the head cant (muscles locked), With some massage and training I'm slowly learning to adjust my head to correct position but my nose took a real pounding for quite a few weeks lol

He's going to kill me if he reads this, but my father used to DUCT tape his nose to the side while shooting in his yard!  He'd come home from 3D shoots bloody every time!

Michael Jackson had his nose altered so his bow string wouldn't hit it.....Oh wait, that was so he could look like his sister......never mind.  :knothead:

I had the same issue.  Shortened my draw about 1/4" and now I don't hit my nose.

I don't have that problem. What about hitting your nipple?LOL...Thats something that happens to me.Another problem I have is the glove scratching my face. That bothers me because after every shooting session I have marks on my face and just today I was bleeding.I don't mash my fingers into my face its the part where the fingers open and slide across my face.Drives me crazy and it doesn't matter which glove I use.

Don Stokes

Achilles, my brother had both of the same problems. He was a small man, and habitually tried to overdraw the bow to compensate. He solved both problems with a shorter draw.

i swithed to a damascus glove, softer and thinner. no more blood.

LOL..."no more blood"...And this isn't MMA fighting its archery.

I cut the finger tips off new gloves (little glue on the bare threads) and it helps me with both repeatable anchor location and scratching.

I use the string on the side of my nose as an additional anchor point. No problem with it scraping.
